NeuroBears- Understanding Your Autistic Experience- Virtual Course
$350

Family Understanding Sessions
This eight week virtual 1:1 program is designed to strengthen a family's shared understanding of their child's neurology and neurodivergent experience, together.
Targeted for families with a young person ages 8 to 14 (but not limited to)
Delivered virtually. Depending on availability and location, this program may also be offered in home for an added travel fee.
In this strength based model, parents and their child meet with an advocate ONLINE to explore topics side by side, including but not limited to:

  • Neurodivergence myths and where they come from
  • Overwhelm, meltdown, and shutdown, and what each looks like in this specific child
  • Communication styles within the family
  • Masking, and what it costs when it goes unseen
  • Spoon theory and burnout, for the child and the household around them
  • Sensory experience, and how it shows up at home
Families will leave this program with a shared language. Not just the child naming what they need, but parents and caregivers understanding how to hear it, hold it, and respond to it.
We aim to help the whole family feel safer being exactly who they are, together.

Supporting Families to Thrive, Together
A young person's outcomes aren't shaped only by their own self understanding. They're shaped by whether the adults around them understand it too, and whether that understanding is shared rather than siloed.
Many families:
  • Have a diagnosis in hand, but no shared framework for what it means day to day
  • Carry different, sometimes conflicting, ideas about what their child needs
  • Experience tension between wanting to help and not knowing how
  • Watch their child mask at home, at school, or both, without always recognizing it
  • Struggle to talk about what's happening, even when everyone wants things to get better
These challenges directly affect:
  • The child's emotional wellbeing
  • Family communication and trust
  • How the family shows up in IEP meetings and school partnerships
  • Sibling relationships and household stress
  • The family's confidence advocating for what their child needs
Most families are never given a structured, developmentally appropriate way to build this understanding together. They're left to figure it out alone.

What Is Neurobears?
Neurobears is an equity centered, evidence informed psychoeducation program for families with a neurodivergent child ages approximately 8 to 14, delivered as a 1:1 family experience, either virtually or in home depending on availability and location.
It supports families to:
  • Understand their child's brain in a neutral, non pathologizing way, as a family
  • Recognize the child's strengths, needs, and differences, and name them out loud together
  • Develop shared language between parent and child for what helps
  • Feel safer being themselves, individually and as a family unit
  • Build early self advocacy skills the child can carry into school and beyond, with parents who know how to back them up
Neurobears is not a behavior program and does not aim to change neurodivergent traits. It supports families to understand each other as the foundation for the child's wellbeing and inclusion, at school and at home.
