Meet Mireille Heald

I know your question: why should I listen to you about my pain?

Well, I’ve lived it. I went through the mill of treatments: pain clinics, medication, physiotherapy, hypnotherapy and most of the alternative treatments you could possibly think of for my severe back pain.

I did the exercises every day: I had stomach muscles of iron! But still my pain worsened to the point where I was forced to give up work as a vet.

Then I  finally found something that worked for me in Alexander Technique.

I had thought I would never be able to do anything again without having to push through pain. But by learning Alexander technique skills I eventually could climb a mountain again without pain. I could go to the pub and see my friends without worrying about how long I could tolerate sitting. Life opened up again.

This was such a life changing experience I decided to train as an Alexander Technique teacher - which is a 3 year full time training, so no light commitment!

But I’m just one anecdote. Alexander Technique worked for me, but all sorts of funny things 'help' some people.

So I dived into the science of pain. What works and why. Or more often, what doesn't work, but is still inexplicably popular....

I found understanding the mechanisms for how and why different approaches might help pain helped me make better decisions for myself to get myself better. And why Alexander Technique fits so well with science informed approaches to pain.  Pain Education was the cherry on top of Alexander Technique for me, so I now weave it into my teaching.

When it comes to helping and teaching people in pain, being as informed as I can be means I am more effective and ethical. I'm always learning!

I would love to help you find your path out of pain. I'm always open to an informal chat: you can book me here
