Dear Healer,
I see how much you care.
I see how deeply you hold people.
I see how heavy it feels sometimes, even when your work is beautiful.
You didn’t choose this path for applause or status —
you chose it because your heart recognized suffering
and refused to look away.
But somewhere along the way,
someone convinced you that helping others required
sacrificing yourself.
Maybe you learned to work through exhaustion.
Maybe you learned to normalize burnout.
Maybe you learned to be grateful for crumbs
because “this is just how it is.”
I believed that too.
Until my body, my life, and my grief
told me the truth:
we cannot keep saving others
by abandoning ourselves.
A healer with no bandwidth cannot heal.
A therapist with no time cannot breathe.
A nervous system in survival cannot create safety.
You deserve rest.
You deserve time.
You deserve a life that nourishes you
as deeply as you nourish others.
And if no one has told you this:
your needs matter too.
With love and rebellion,
Amelia
