CARLY WALLER, CNM - CO-FOUNDER, CHIEF COORDINATOR & SPIRITUAL ADVISOR

CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE

Carly Waller CNM, Founder of Breath of Life, is a Certified Nurse Midwife practicing in the Charlotte area, who started her journey with nursing in 2003 by graduating with her BSN from Emory University. She then worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 2.5 years before moving to North Carolina and transitioning to Public Health in the Women's Health Department. Carly knew, though, that she was created and called to be a midwife. Finally, in 2018, she graduated from East Carolina University with her MSN and Nurse-Midwifery. Afterward, she started working at the Charlotte birth center before it closed and then worked in the OBGYN office/hospital setting as a midwife. She is married with two teenage children, and she loves serving in her local church! Since becoming a midwife, she was disheartened by the seeming lack of Christian believers and birth work. Well, on December 8th, 2022 the Holy Spirit shocked her when He whispered to her the grand vision for this organization. It was a big and challenging leap of faith to start Breath of Life from scratch, but she has nurtured and cared for its growth to where it is today. Carly is so excited about the leadership team that is partnering with her to grow and take back birth work for the Kingdom of God.

GENNELLE MILES - CO-FOUNDER CHIEF COORDINATOR & SPIRITUAL ADVISOR
TRADITIONAL BIRTH ATTENDANT, DOULA, EDUCATOR, LACTATION SPECIALIST

Genelle Miles is a woman of strong faith in Jesus Christ, a devoted wife of a Pastor, and a mother who would do anything for her children. She is extremely devoted to birthwork in the Charlotte metro and surrounding areas, and having experienced natural birth herself many times, she is keenly aware of the amount of support a birthing mother requires to obtain the “best possible outcome”. She serves Breath of Life as the Chief Coordinator and Spiritual Advisor. Her role is to be the point person and liaison for all other leaders, while coordinating with the Founder for major decisions, as well as be a spiritual counselor to members and guard the founding values of Breath of Life. She'd always felt the call to birth work, but had to delay pursuing it when her children were younger. Three of her births, her daughters, were in hospitals, and she recounts how uncomfortable and alone she felt, even with her supportive and attentive husband by her side. Genelle’s Last three births, her boys, were amazing. They were born at home, so she was able to move about freely, smell everything and anything that was familiar, hug and love on her children, and just be in her own space, which gave her a sense of peace and calm. It wasn't until her last birth that she got to experience what it is like to have other mothers present at her birth. It was from there that she realized how much this work is needed, so she made a decision to make it a permanent pursuit. She is doing this for all mothers, who may not have access to loving, caring, knowledgeable, and experienced women to guide them through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. In all of her births, she has seen and experienced the power of God more clearly than at any point in her life. Birth is a miracle, a spiritual event that should be reverenced and protected!

Marcia Jankee is a wife, mother of three living sons, and a forever mother to a precious baby who went to be with the Lord. She is a licensed midwife apprentice, birth assistant, and full-spectrum doula, called to walk alongside women through the sacred journey of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.

Currently studying to become a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Marcia serves families across the full life cycle of pregnancy, with special focus on high-risk pregnancies, pregnancy and infant loss, and bereavement support. Her work is deeply rooted in compassion, clinical wisdom, and reverence for the physiological design of birth.
Marcia’s calling into birth work began in childhood, but it was profoundly shaped by her own lived experiences particularly a devastating fetal demise and late-term pregnancy loss. Through grief, surrender, and faith, God refined her purpose and anchored her heart firmly in service. What the enemy meant for harm, the Lord transformed into ministry.

A passionate advocate for holistic, physiological birth, birth justice, and bodily autonomy, Marcia believes every woman deserves to be informed, supported, and honored in her choices. She approaches birth as sacred ground where heaven meets earth and lives are forever changed.

Above all, Marcia is a daughter of Yahweh, led by the Holy Spirit. While some are called to the pulpit, she knows God has called her into the labor space to intercede, to serve, to protect, and to remind women of their God-given strength. For her, birth work is not just a profession, it is ministry.
