The Power of Staying in the Covering

The Power of Staying in the Covering

Scripture: “The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe.” — Proverbs 18:10 (NLT)

Morning Devotional: Stay in the Fortress—Don’t Just Visit

Sis, your safety is not in your strength. Your covering is not your control. Your protection is not your hustle.

Your true safety is the name of the Lord.
And His name isn’t just a label—it’s a strong fortress. A fortified refuge. A spiritual stronghold that cannot be penetrated by the plans of the enemy.

Proverbs 18:10 is a lifeline.
It’s not just reminding you that God is a shelter—it’s showing you where your position must be. It says the godly run to Him and are safe. That means divine protection isn’t just about knowing God exists—it’s about intentionally running into Him and remaining there.

Let’s Break It Down: What Is God Really Saying?

“The name of the Lord…” — This means everything God is: Healer, Defender, Provider, Shield, Redeemer, Father. His name carries power, covering, and authority.

“…is a strong fortress…” — A fortress is built for one purpose: to keep the enemy out and protect what’s inside. That’s what God is offering you: not a weak shelter, but an impenetrable defense.

“…the godly run to Him…” — Not walk. Not crawl. Not think about it. RUN. This is urgency. This is desperation. This is surrender.

“…and are safe.” — Safe from what? Safe from destruction. Safe from manipulation. Safe from retaliation. Safe from the spiritual and emotional weapons that were meant to destroy you.

To the Woman Who Keeps Stepping Out From the Covering…

Yes, you’re strong. Yes, you’ve survived a lot.
But strength without covering is a setup for collapse.
Many of us have been wounded because we left God’s protection trying to fix it ourselves. We tried to defend ourselves, speak for ourselves, fight battles God never asked us to fight.

And it left us drained, anxious, unprotected—and exposed.

But today, God is calling you back.

Staying in the Covering Is a Choice.
  • It’s choosing obedience over opinion.
  • It’s choosing trust over control.
  • It’s choosing God’s way over your way.
  • It’s choosing to remain in prayer, in the Word, and in surrender—even when your flesh wants to run wild.

God’s covering is not something we visit when trouble hits. It’s where we live.

So, How Do You Stay in the Covering?

You stay close to God’s presence—worship keeps you aligned.
You stay obedient—disobedience breaks your shield.
You stay spiritually alert—awareness keeps you guarded.
You stay humble—God resists the proud but covers the surrendered.
You stay in His Word—because His promises are your weapons and your walls.

Spiritual Awareness Activation:

Ask yourself right now:
“Have I moved out of alignment? Have I stepped outside the fortress trying to handle life on my own?”

Declare this out loud with fire:
“I run to the name of the Lord. He is my fortress. I will stay hidden in Him. I will not step out—I will stay under the covering.”

Prayer:

Father, forgive me for every time I tried to protect myself instead of trusting You. Forgive me for every time I stepped out of Your will, trying to make things happen in my own strength. Today, I run back into Your name. I run back into Your presence. I come back under the covering, and I ask You to seal me there. Keep me alert, obedient, and close. I don’t just want to be safe from trouble—I want to stay close to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Affirmation of the Day:

“I am not exposed. I am not defenseless. I live inside the fortress of God’s name. And in Him—I am always safe.”

From Chains to Change — How God Redeemed My Life

Hey, Resilient Woman — Your Healing Starts Here

My name is Dashonia Marie, and I am living proof that God can take a shattered life and turn it into a story of strength, purpose, and redemption. I’ve walked through the fire — addiction, trauma, loss, and pain that tried to silence my purpose — but God’s grace met me in the ashes and taught me how to rise.

I know what it feels like to be broken, to question your worth, and to wonder if freedom is even possible. But I also know what it means to encounter the healing power of God — the kind that restores what was stolen, rewrites your identity, and breathes new life into weary hearts.

Through Encouraging Her Resilience, I’ve made it my mission to walk beside women like you — women who are ready to break cycles, renew their minds, and rediscover the woman God created them to be. This is not about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about learning that your past does not define you — God’s promise does.

As a Certified Addiction Counselor and Faith-Based Recovery Coach, I don’t just offer sessions; I offer safe spaces — places where healing is nurtured, faith is strengthened, and transformation begins from the inside out.

I believe every woman has a comeback story waiting to be written — and I’m here to help you write yours. Because if God could redeem my life, He can surely restore yours.

Healing is possible. Hope is real. Freedom is yours — and it starts with saying yes.

With love and grace,

Dashonia Marie
