Day 2: God Is My Defender
Scripture:
“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” — Exodus 14:14 (NLT)
Devotional Message:
Sisters, sometimes life will back you into a corner where you feel like you must defend yourself with every ounce of strength you have. People will talk about you. Lies will spread. Accusations will rise up, and your first instinct is to cry out, “That’s not true! That’s not who I am!”
I know that feeling well. I have sat in places where my character was torn apart by false accusations. I have felt the sting of being labeled a criminal for things I did not do. I have cried out to God asking, “Lord, why won’t they see the truth?”
But then I hear His whisper: “The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
This scripture takes us back to when Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt. They stood at the edge of the Red Sea, trapped between the water and Pharaoh’s army. Fear consumed them, and they panicked. But Moses reminded them that they didn’t have to fight — God Himself was about to move on their behalf. And He did. He split the sea, making a way where there was no way.
That same God is fighting for you right now. You don’t need to exhaust yourself trying to convince the world of your innocence. You don’t need to waste your energy chasing every lie. God sees. God knows. And God will make sure the truth comes out.
It’s hard, I know. It’s hard to sit quietly when everything in you wants to shout. It’s hard to hold your peace when the enemy’s lies are loud. But here’s what I’ve learned: the quietest seasons are often the ones where God does His loudest work.
Reflection Questions:
- What situation in your life right now makes you feel like you have to fight for yourself?
- How can you release that battle to God today?
- What do you need to surrender so God can step in and defend you?
Challenge:
Today, take five minutes to sit in silence with God. As you sit, picture yourself laying your battle at His feet. Whisper:
“Lord, I trust You to fight for me. I will not be moved by lies or fear.”
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for being my Defender. When lies rise against me, help me to trust that You see the truth. Give me the strength to stay calm when everything in me wants to fight back. Remind me that no enemy can stand against You, and my victory is already secure in Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Affirmation for Today:
“I do not need to fight alone. The Lord Himself is my Defender, and my victory is secure.”
