Delivered — But Still Struggling? A Heart-to-Heart About Real Deliverance
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” — John 8:36 (NLT)

Let’s Be Real for a Moment

Deliverance — that word sounds powerful, doesn’t it? We shout about it. We testify about it. We thank God for it.
But if we’re being honest… how many of us still wake up wondering,
 “Lord, am I really delivered?”
Because here’s the truth no one likes to admit — you can love God, serve God, quote scripture, and still feel chained inside.
You can be clean from drugs but still be addicted to control.
You can stop drinking but still drown in self-doubt.
You can walk out of one kind of bondage and still live in another.
Deliverance isn’t just about what you walked away from — it’s about what still has a hold on your heart.

When You Ask God, “Am I Really Free?”

I’ve prayed that prayer more times than I can count.
“Lord, am I really delivered?”
Not just from the visible things — the drugs, the alcohol, the people I once ran with — but from the unseen things that nobody talks about.
The pride. The anger. The fear of rejection. The trauma I buried so deep that even I didn’t want to face it.
Because sometimes we think deliverance is an altar moment — when it’s actually a lifelong process.
It’s not just
falling on your knees once; it’s learning to stay there.
It’s letting God strip away every layer that keeps you from being whole, even when it hurts.
Deliverance isn’t just freedom from what broke you.
It’s freedom to become who God called you to be.

 The Truth About Real Deliverance

True deliverance means God doesn’t just pull you out of something — He pulls that something out of you.
He doesn’t just take the bottle, the needle, or the habit. He goes deeper. He starts reaching for the root — the pain, the emptiness, the need to be loved, the lies you believed about who you are.
Deliverance is not behavior modification. It’s heart transformation.
It’s when your appetite changes. It’s when what used to satisfy you suddenly doesn’t anymore. It’s when your spirit starts craving what your flesh used to resist.
And yes, you might slip. You might stumble. But when you’re truly delivered, you can’t stay there.
There’s something inside you — the Holy Spirit — that won’t let you rest in sin. He’ll convict you, call you higher, and pull you back to the altar over and over again.

 Deliverance Is a Daily Decision

We often think deliverance is a one-time miracle moment.
But deliverance is
daily. It’s waking up and saying, “God, I still need You to deliver me — from myself.”
It’s surrendering the parts of you that still want to go back. It’s admitting the truth that some days, your spirit and your flesh are still at war.
And that’s okay.
Because God’s deliverance doesn’t fail when you fall — it strengthens you to get back up.
Falling short doesn’t mean you’ve fallen out of grace.
Deliverance doesn’t mean you’ll never struggle again — it means your struggle no longer defines you.

 Being Honest With Ourselves

One thing about deliverance — it starts with honesty.
You can’t heal what you won’t reveal.
You can’t conquer what you keep pretending doesn’t exist.
Being honest before God doesn’t make you weak — it makes you reachable.
God can handle your honesty. He already knows what you’re struggling with, but He’s waiting for you to admit it so He can walk you through it.
Sometimes the most powerful deliverance isn’t from a demon or addiction — it’s from the lies we’ve told ourselves:
“I’m fine.”
“I’m healed.”
“I’ve moved on.”
But deep down, you’re still bleeding.
And God’s saying, “Let Me touch
that. Let Me deliver that part.

 Deliverance Beyond the Surface

Deliverance is not about pretending you’ve arrived — it’s about walking with God while He cleans the parts of you that nobody sees.
It’s about letting Him deliver you from gossip, from bitterness, from comparison, from unforgiveness, from the need to prove your worth.
It’s when you can say,
“God, I don’t just want to be sober — I want to be sanctified.”
“I don’t just want to stop the habit — I want a healed heart.”
“I don’t just want to look free — I want to
 live free.”
Because deliverance is not about performance — it’s about transformation.

 Self-Reflection: A Heart Check

Ask yourself tonight:
  • Am I walking in deliverance or just in denial?
  • What areas of my life still need to bow to the authority of God?
  • What am I holding onto that God’s been trying to take from me?
You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing.
Because God can’t deliver what you refuse to surrender.

 Prayer of Deliverance

Father,
Thank You for being patient with me.
Thank You for seeing me in my struggle and still calling me Yours. Lord, I don’t just want partial deliverance — I want total transformation. Deliver me from every thought, habit, and emotion that separates me from You. Wash me, purify me, and fill me with Your Spirit. Teach me how to walk in the freedom You’ve already given me. I want to be delivered — not just from what I’ve done, but from anything that keeps me from becoming who You’ve called me to be.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

Declaration of Freedom

I am delivered. I am not who I used to be. I may still be healing, but I am no longer bound. The power of God is breaking every chain that once held me.

From Chains to Change — How God Redeemed My Life

Hey, Resilient Woman — Your Healing Starts Here

My name is Dashonia Marie, and I am living proof that God can take a shattered life and turn it into a story of strength, purpose, and redemption. I’ve walked through the fire — addiction, trauma, loss, and pain that tried to silence my purpose — but God’s grace met me in the ashes and taught me how to rise.

I know what it feels like to be broken, to question your worth, and to wonder if freedom is even possible. But I also know what it means to encounter the healing power of God — the kind that restores what was stolen, rewrites your identity, and breathes new life into weary hearts.

Through Encouraging Her Resilience, I’ve made it my mission to walk beside women like you — women who are ready to break cycles, renew their minds, and rediscover the woman God created them to be. This is not about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about learning that your past does not define you — God’s promise does.

As a Certified Addiction Counselor and Faith-Based Recovery Coach, I don’t just offer sessions; I offer safe spaces — places where healing is nurtured, faith is strengthened, and transformation begins from the inside out.

I believe every woman has a comeback story waiting to be written — and I’m here to help you write yours. Because if God could redeem my life, He can surely restore yours.

Healing is possible. Hope is real. Freedom is yours — and it starts with saying yes.

With love and grace,
